Many teenagers love to slide their mobile phones before going to bed. They often can't stop for a few hours. In addition to lack of sleep and affecting the next day's study, they also affect mental health and the situation of "physical and mental imbalance"! The Dongshi Foundation Mental Health Center cited a study published in the well-known foreign journal "Child Development" in January this year, which pointed out that using mobile phones at night can affect sleep, and it is easy to increase depression, reduce self-esteem and coping ability.

The Dong Foundation said that the study, which was conducted by researchers at Murdoch University in Western Australia for four years, is the first long-term study on the use of mobile phones and mental health at night, tracking 1101 13-to-16 High school students, observing changes in the use of mobile phones and sleep behaviors among young people, and comparing changes in depression, externalization behavior, self-esteem and coping ability.

Ye Yaxin, director of the Dongshi Foundation Mental Health Center, said that the study proves that teenagers who play mobile phones day and night are prone to mental health problems. At this stage, teenagers are mostly important to others, and mobile phones are almost an important tool for contacting friends or making friends. As parents, we don't need to stop the child from using the phone, but it is important to let the child know the correct and limited use.

Ye Yaxin described the use of mobile phones at night, a bit like a social media vampire, from communicating with friends, downloading music, playing games, etc., always let the young people can not help but immerse themselves, causing parental pressure.

In addition, according to a study conducted by Bridgewater University in Massachusetts in 2014 for 642 freshmen, 80% of men and women admitted that they often stayed up late in high school, when parents thought they were sleeping, they averaged every night. Spend 1 to 2 hours to play with your phone. 42% of people who stay up all night staying up late say they suffer from depression, which is 25% of all children.

Chen Huacai, a child and adolescent psychiatrist at the Taoyuan Sanatorium of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said that new technologies often bring new problems. It is difficult for modern people to use mobile phones, but parents can try to remind young people to maintain the importance of normal work and rest. The human brain has a certain circadian rhythm. It is just like going abroad to feel uncomfortable due to the change of sleep caused by jet lag. Regardless of depression or anxiety, "sleeping status" is an important indicator for judging adolescents' physical and mental health. If the sleep condition is abnormal, parents can consider seeking professional assistance at the right time.

Ye Yaxin added that mobile phones are an important tool for young teenagers to connect with friends. Parents do not need to stop children from using them, but they should convey the correct concept of use, such as pre-purchase specifications, including the use of caps and the latest use. Point, do your homework before you can play, etc., you have to lead by example, otherwise your child will only have a sample.
